Ming/Qing dynasty white / greenish translucent jade fur seal type recumbent fish statue carving

Brown and white russet inclusions.

Size: 11.5 x 5.5 cm, 4 cm high.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties the jade carving industry flourished and there was a marked increased in the variety of carved jade animals objects. Their size also increased compared with the previous dynasties. Considering the characteristics, Ming animal jade objects are rather rugged in appearance. The carving was more uncomplicated and with little attention to fine details. Generally the heads are rather small with numerous ridges on both and face.
