Product Description

Ming dynasty archaic gray / white jade tripod jue vessel. Depicting a jue cup on a sitting man’s back. The cup has a dragon face ear, a climbing chi-long dragon and cloud designs.

Brown and russet inclusions and veins.

Size: 12.5 x 9.5 cm, 3 cm thick.

Note:

The jade Jue cup is one of the major type of antique style jades and manufactured in the form of ancient chinese bronze objects. During the Shang and Zhou period the bronze jue was a wine vessel. In form it was generally larger at the top than the bottom with a wide curved oval leap with pourer at one end and tail at the other. Beneath the belly the vessel has three tail, slender feet that slanted outwards. The belly was decorated with the pattern of clouds and thunder, one-legged dragon and phoenix with one -legged dragon pattern. Some were ornamented with corner edges.
